Maine Labor Lobby Day -

When: 8am Thursday February 9, 2012
Where: Cross Café – Cross Office Building
    State House, Augusta, ME

In the current anti-worker environment being led by the Governor and legislative leadership in Maine, it is more important than ever for us to join our AFL-CIO sisters & brothers to let our State Senators and State Representatives know where we stand on working family and organized labor issues.
We need to have a good IATSE Local 481 turnout so we can also lobby for stronger support of our Maine Film Office. If we don’t do this, who will?
Please contact President John Gates if you are able to attend this year’s Labor Lobby Day.

Maine Legislature Hearing - LD 1571 - Attack on Workers Compensation -

Please take a few hours to join your AFL-CIO sisters & brothers to prevent this 19 point attack on Maine's workers compensation system.
When: 1pm Friday February 17
Where: Labor Committee - Hearing Room 208
Cross Office Building
(connects to State House)
While the bill may change from its current draft, the impact is clear: this bill will harm injured workers and roll back workers’ rights.
We know the workers compensation system is a vital lifeline for injured workers, and it needs to be improved, not weakened. It's already difficult to navigate and LD 1571 would make it much worse. If you can't attend the hearing, please call your state senator and state representative and tell them you Do Not Support LD 1571 and ask them not to vote for it if it comes to a vote on the floor

If you or a fellow worker you know has had a significant experience being injured at work and navigating the workers comp system, please call the Maine AFL-CIO at 207- 622-9675
